Current thought: a transpiler from one infrastructure as code language to another… how hard can it be?

Nathan Peck noted that with generative AI, it “mostly just works out of the box already.” Bill Bensing asked the harder question: if you need transpilers, why not just use a limited toolset?
The most interesting angle: this isn’t really about transpilation — it’s about whether AI makes the choice of IaC language less consequential. If you can translate freely between Terraform, Pulumi, CDK, and ARM, does the language even matter anymore?
